Sharing is one of the most beautiful actions human beings can perform. If we go beyond etymologies, sharing means to love, to give a little piece of who we are and love, so it becomes in itself an act of caring for the other.
In this regard, on Sunday, March 3, Migrantour Parma, together with ASP Parma, as part of the spring edition of I Like Parma, made the Antica Farmacia San Filippo Neri a place of care again, as well as a place of culture. This was thanks to Medicinal Beverages from Other Worlds, where three beverages from faraway lands cured the participants’ bodies: mate (Argentina), karkadè (Gabon) and chocolate (Mexico).
The audience sipped stories of family and collective healing, because in addition to quenching thirst and healing the soul, the beverages featured in the meeting boast a variety of beneficial properties for the human body. Such as, for example, the energizing and antioxidant power of mate, or the draining and digestive effect of karkadé, as well as the pain-relieving and stress-relieving virtues of chocolate, just to name a few. In addition, the intercultural companions who led the meeting shared personal memories regarding the beverages presented, as well as small curiosities and food pairings.
Sip after sip also discussed the ritual as well as economic importance of chocolate for the inhabitants of pre-Hispanic Mexico. Thus the drink, which was offered only to people of great importance during celebrations, accompanied a tale full of olfactory notes that, for a few moments, took the audience inside Mexican kitchens.
