In the second half of May, Migrantour Turin realized an interesting workshop with students of the Bachelor in Educational Sciences at the University of Turin.
The activity has been developed in three steps: during the first meeting, students drew some mental maps in which they included places linked to their own life experience and considered significant for their intercultural value: different cities and countries were thus connected through routes made of memories and projects linked to the dialogue between cultures.
The second meeting was held outdoors, attending the Migrantour walk in Porta Palazzo together with the intercultural companion Vanessa Libora. The walk was an important opportunity to tell students not only about the usual contents of the itinerary, but also about some of the “behind the scenes” aspects of the itinerary, explaining how the walk was conceived and how it is offered to various groups of participants, with a focus on pupils from local schools.
Finally, during the third meeting, the local coordinator of Migrantour Torino, Rosina Chiurazzi, reflected together with the participants on some migration-related topics that students could explore not only to enrich their studies, but also to make a concrete contribution to the topics discussed during the Migrantour walks. Three topics in particular were addressed: the role of migrant workers in the agricultural sector, the role of women in migratory processes, and the decolonial approach to urban heritage.
The activity aroused interest and participation from all the students and we are sure that the collaboration between Migrantour and the University of Turin can continue and become more articulate and fruitful in the future!
