From 18 to 22 September 2024, the Migration Festival took place in Turin with a rich programme of artistic events, meetings, debates and convivial moments. A Festival that speaks of the future with a different, strong narrative, capable of overcoming the stereotype of fear and invasion.
Culture can play a great function: creating opportunities for confrontation to alleviate the fear of migrants towards a society they do not know, which often rejects and discriminates against them. Only opportunities for people to get to know each other and meet can break down prejudices. The challenge is to find methods for an intercultural dialogue in which diversity is considered an enrichment and not just a problem.
We at Migrantour were also there to make our contribution with the walk at Porta Palazzo and the narration by Vanessa, our intercultural companion, because cultural processes that talk about Migration have the task of dismantling the violence of the system, the violence of the physical and mental border, to give meaning and practice to words like coexistence, community, inclusion, dream, vision of the future.
