Good news from Migrantour Barcelona

During 2024 and the first months of 2025 Migrantour Barcelona has consolidated its role as a tool for social transformation, fostering intercultural dialogue and global justice through its educational tours. The project’s impact has been significant, reaching more than 1,500 people through 93 tours, aimed at students, associations, Third Sector entities, and other groups interested in understanding Barcelona’s diversity from a decolonial and anti-racist perspective. Additionally, the project has been present at major events such as Barcelona Antiracista, where a special tour was offered, and the UNESCO World Forum Against Discrimination, followed by more than 50,000 people online.

In terms of media visibility, Migrantour Barcelona has been featured in Diario.es, El Salto, Nexe, and Diari de Barcelona, along with an interview on RAC1, highlighting the importance of creating new narratives around migration and combating prejudice. On an international scale, it has strengthened its alliances with 25 European cities, leading the Migrantour Erasmus+ International Seminar, which brought together 30 participants from 8 countries, and participating in the 15th anniversary of the Migrantour network in Turin, contributing to shaping the project’s future strategy at a European level.

The project has also had a major community impact, training a total of 45 intercultural guides over the past five years. Through these training programs, Migrantour Barcelona not only creates spaces for public engagement but also empowers migrants to become active change-makers within their communities. In this regard, the project has played an active role within Barcelona’s Anti-Rumors Network, contributing to the fight against xenophobia and promoting a critical and committed intercultural citizenship.

Strategically, Migrantour Barcelona has expanded with initiatives such as Migrantfood, a new tour that combines gastronomy and intercultural education, winning the Intercultural Marathon of the Anna Lindh Foundation. The main challenge for Migrantour Barcelona remains achieving financial autonomy, reducing dependence on public funding, and exploring new sustainability models based on the social and solidarity economy. The goal is to ensure that this initiative continues to transform how Barcelona understands and values its diversity.
