Mayela

Mayela

I was born in El Cobre, a village located at an altitude of 2,000 meters on the Andes in Venezuela. Cobre means copper: Spanish conquerors who founded this village on 24th August 1558 chose this name because they found rich mines of this metal. My name, Mayela, was given to me in honor of the Italian Saint of the 18th century, Saint Gerardo Maria Maiella, the protector of parturient women, very well-known in some South American countries. I have lived in Genoa since 1989, where I came for love. I lived ten years in different Arabian countries. I speak English, French, Spanish and Italian. I have studied journalism at the Andes University Communication School, Táchira, and I consider it very useful to give information knowing and studying other people’s culture, this is why I have specialized in Intercultural Communication in Genoa. I write some articles from Italy for Venezuela and I also teach Spanish. The historic district of this town is a place I know very well and I love for its original alleys. These callejones actually prove the permanent link with the sea, where architecture, history, people and cultures make it a unique place in the world that is worth discovering.
