I was born in Bangladesh and moved to Italy with my family when I was 1 and a half year old. I graduated 3 years ago in a language high school and I currently study languages at ‘La Sapienza’. Every time people ask me to talk about my country I really don’t know which one to choose between Italy and Bangladesh. I know Rome like I know the fingers on my hand as I’ve been living here since I came to Italy. Sometimes I feel guilty when I say that I love Italy more than Bangladesh, but I can’t do anything about that… it’s just how I feel.
But sometimes, when some citizens who are ‘really’ Italian look at you arrogantly, as they want to underline the fact that you are NOT a REAL Italian, I love Italy a little less.
