The first project for the co-management of urban public spaces in Italy comes to life in Naples, an innovative initiative that goes beyond the traditional model of entrusting to the private sector to promote shared and participatory management. La Bella Piazza is a co-design process involving those who live and work in the square, interweaving social, cultural and economic aspects to build a more cohesive and inclusive community. This space thus becomes a true meeting place, where every voice counts and contributes to shaping the future of the common space.
Among the concrete actions envisaged by the project, the care and maintenance of the square will play a fundamental role, with initiatives that will animate the eight kiosks for social and commercial activities. In order to meet daily needs, a cleaning service, maintenance of green areas and play and sports areas will be guaranteed. In addition, a ‘neighbourhood concierge’ will be set up, a reference point to strengthen the sense of proximity and connection with residents.
The initiative also includes a social centre, with support for the homeless and outdoor workshops for socio-educational activities. The cultural and tourist enhancement of the square will be enriched by the presence of an info point and proposals such as intercultural walks, events and urban games to discover the neighbourhood’s stories and ties, transforming Piazza Garibaldi into an increasingly lively and participatory place.
A special role will be entrusted to Migrantour Napoli, with guided walks that will accompany citizens, residents and visitors to discover the cultural stories and ties that characterise the neighbourhood, strengthening the sense of belonging. Migrantour will help transform the square into a laboratory of open and supportive community, a place where an inclusive future can be built together.
