The route is part of the Bella Piazza project, supported by Fondazione Con il Sud together with a network of organizations, including the social cooperative Casba Società Cooperativa Sociale, active in the European Migrantour Intercultural Urban Roots network since 2015.

Young travelers discovering the city

The idea stems from a strong belief: change begins with the new generations. In collaboration with the kindergarten “Il 4 di Maggio,” fifteen little explorers set off to discover the transformations of Piazza Garibaldi, one of the city’s most dynamic and symbolic places, between urban regeneration and cultural diversity.

The starting point was Portineria Garibaldi, a neighborhood civic space: a place of welcome, listening, and meeting, where relationships and community are built every day.

The Vasto: a journey around the world without leaving Naples

From there, the route unfolded in the Vasto district, the most multicultural area of Naples, where the city becomes a mosaic of languages, aromas, and colors.

Our young travelers discovered the food Pierre used to eat in Senegal, coming into contact with distant flavors that are now part of the city; visited a mosque, listening for the first time to the Adhān, the evocative call of the muezzin; met the Senegalese street vendors at the multiethnic market of Via Bologna, instantly becoming their little favorites; and tasted halal sweets from Pasticceria Lauri, the only pastry shop in the city producing treats without animal fats or alcohol, suitable for everyone’s palate.

Play, art, and shared discovery

The journey ended where it began, once again in Piazza Garibaldi, in the spaces of the social concierge. Here, through play, the children recognized the products seen at the market thanks to illustrations created by students of the NTA course at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, involved in a relational art project in the area.

Among seeds, herbal infusions from Senegal, and spontaneous storytelling, the authentic impressions of those who experienced the city without filters emerged.

A city becoming a community

This walk was not just an educational activity, but an opening to other worlds that coexist in their differences. A way to understand how, through shared care, an urban space can transform into a lively and welcoming community.

This is the deepest meaning of the experience: five-year-old children naturally imagining a future without cultural or religious barriers. A future in which skin colors are simply shades, and traditions and stories intertwine in an ever more connected world.

Without a doubt, it was the most beautiful Migrantour walk ever.

On March 30, 2026, the first Migrantour Naples experience designed for children came to life: an intercultural journey through nearby worlds, everyday stories, and urban transformations.
